In 2016, I started work on Potatoman Begins, not knowing it would kickstart a proper story saga born out of the Dave & Carl universe. After finishing it in 2017, I shifted the long comics focus away from Dave and Carl with Potatoman Regrown following in 2018, introducing those pesky Iztovians for the first time. Then, 2019 brought Potatoman Ignited, with a pair of spin-offs, Captain Obnoxious and IZ88 coming along in 2020 and 2021 respectively.
Following 2022's Potatoman: Wrath of Phrax, 2023 saw a trio of Dave & Carl long comics, akin (in length at least) to those released from 2014 to 2017.
Today, I'm very happy to announce 2024's offering;
Potatoman V
(obviously a working title)
For this fifth entry in the saga, Potatoman and co. will be venturing to a faraway land. An isolated and mysterious nation far from Littleworth shall be host to whatever wacky adventures our protagonists get up to, details of which shall start trickling out in the coming weeks. Like Wrath of Phrax, six chapters released from January through November is how I envision it to go, the first of which already has a few pages done and dusted. Also like WOP, I have a feeling that the Chazvent Calendar will be making a comeback this year!
...aside from the fifth instalment, there's some more Potatoman news to share with you all.
Back in September, Newgrounds launched its much-lauded Art Portal update, introducing among other things multi-image support. Freed at last from the constraints of single-image posting, I can announce today that Regrown, Ignited, Wrath of Phrax, Captain Obnoxious and IZ88 have all had their pages updated to be in full-resolution! The last chapter of Begins has also received the same treatment; with the other three chapters having been released once a week, they were already in full res. So yeah. there's never been a better time to re-read the series, even if the artwork itself is a tad dated. On the plus side, there's some swanky new thumbnails too!
(A small number of you might have noticed that I actually made this move about a month ago. I just thought the Potatoman V reveal would be a good time to properly announce it!)
I think that's it for this post. Roll on 2024!
